Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how BroadbandSpeedChecker.net ("we", "us", "the site") handles information when you use our speed test. We've designed the site to collect as little personal data as possible.
1. What information we collect
When you run a speed test, the measurement is performed by your browser communicating directly with Cloudflare's global edge network. The site itself does not run a backend that stores results.
Information visible during a test (shown on-screen, not stored by us):
- Your public IP address
- Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) name and ASN
- Your approximate city, region and country (derived from your IP)
- Which Cloudflare edge data center handled your test
- Your connection's download, upload, ping and jitter measurements
This information is sent from your browser directly to Cloudflare during the test. We display it to you, but we do not record it on our own servers.
2. Local storage
If you opt to keep a history of recent tests, those results are stored in your browser's
localStorage on your own device. They never leave your device and we have no
access to them. You can clear this history at any time using the "Clear" button in the Recent
tests panel, or via your browser's site-data settings.
3. Server logs
Like most websites, our web server may automatically log basic technical information when you visit a page: your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, and the time of the request. These logs are kept short-term for security and operational purposes and are not used to identify you personally.
4. Cookies and tracking
The site does not set any first-party tracking cookies. For details on cookies set by third-party services (such as Cloudflare's CDN and, in future, advertising partners), see our Cookie Policy.
5. Third-party services
The site relies on the following third parties to function:
- Cloudflare — provides the speed test measurement endpoints and acts as a content delivery network. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google AdSense (where displayed) — may show advertising on some pages. Where present, Google may use cookies to personalise ads. See Google's privacy policy.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data we hold about you. Because we don't store speed test results or personally identifiable data on our servers, we generally don't have data to give back — but if you have a specific request, contact us at the address below.
7. Children's privacy
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted on the homepage.
9. Contact
Questions or requests about this policy can be sent to [email protected].
