Methodology

How the test works

01
Ping
Small requests go to the nearest Cloudflare edge server to measure round-trip latency and jitter.
02
Download
Test files from 100 kB up to 250 MB are fetched from the edge, stepping up in size until your line is full. Slower lines never pull the big files.
03
Upload
The same in reverse: files up to 50 MB are sent back to the edge, alternating with download rounds so one brief slowdown can't skew the result.
04
Analysis
Speeds are the 90th percentile of all samples, ping is the median, and lag under load is graded. Everything is calculated in your browser.
